Increase in scientific articles
The number of scientific articles published in prestigious journals by UC3M faculty grew by more than 30% between 2006 and 2010, when 663 articles appeared in scientific publications.
Growth in funding obtained by the EPS
The School of Engineering (EPS - La Escuela Politécnica Superior) at Carlos III was able to increase funding by 20% in 2010 with respect to 2009, obtaining over 14 million euros.
Increase in number of WoS publications per professor
The UC3M faculty has increased its number of scientific publications in the Web of Science from 2007 to the present; the most notable increase occurred in 2009, when the number of articles published per professor increased by 12% with respect to the previous year.
Growth in research projects
The number of research projects carried out at UC3M increased by 200% between 2006 and 2010, growing from 593 (in 2006) to 1469 research projects in 2010.
Stability in competitive project funding and coordinated funding
In the last 3 years there has been a stabilizing trend for competitive project funding with respect to coordinated funding, with coordinated funding representing approximately 40% of the amount obtained through competitive funding.
Funding obtained from private entities: nearly a 30% increase
Private funding obtained for research activities at UC3M grew almost 30% in 2010 with respect to 2009, amounting to over 8 million euros.
Competitive Funding
In spite of the economic crisis, it is noteworthy that funds from both competitive and cooperative sources of finance grew significantly in 2010 as compared to 2009. Funds from competitive project funding grew 26%, while funds from coordinated funding grew 18.5%.
Funding per professor: a 10% increase in funding obtained
Funding obtained by permanent faculty members in 2010 increased by more than 10% with respect to 2006, when measured on a per professor basis. This demonstrates both the solid scientific ability of the UC3M research community as well as its excellent response to the OTRI-UC3M's policies for fomenting and managing research
Professional training for researchers
UC3M's commitment to updating and improving the professional training and development of its young researchers has led to a 7% increase in mobility with respect to 2009.
Importance of R+D funding
The funding obtained for R+D projects and R+D contracts in 2010 accounted for approximately 85% of the funding obtained through different activities carried out by UC3M professors.
Higher number of patent applications
In the last four years, there has been a constant increase in the number of patent applications and software registrations made by UC3M professors. If the last 4 years are taken into account, there has been a 216% increase in such applications and registrations.
