Universidad Carlos III de Madrid

Once again, I present the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid Research Report. This report, published every two years, highlights University research activity during the years 2009 and 2010.
Following the path begun in past editions, and with the aim of providing a perspective on our research results, this report contains evolution graphs and tables where advances made in research at our University over the past five years can be observed.
The report’s multimedia format incorporates new videos of the research groups, for easy access to in-depth information about current University research lines.
Funding obtained for research in 2009 and 2010 has not continued in the steady climb of past years due to the effect of the economic crisis in which we are now immersed; notwithstanding, the number of research projects signed by our professors has continued to increase from year to year, ensuring that, far from stagnating, research activity at our University continues to thrive. Along these same lines, there is a higher number of publications, especially articles published in international reviews, specifically in international impact journals (Web of Science). All of the foregoing is the result of the University’s dedication and commitment to the internationalization of its research.
Finally, I wish to express my gratitude to everyone who has participated in the production of this report, particularly the researchers and the Office of the Vice Rector for Research and Transfer, for their efforts and collaboration.
